Another one of my go to methods that I use regularly to help when anxiety starts ruling is Aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is a very effective method of Holistic Healing used worldwide that supports Wellness and health. We are going to get into the powers of essential oils and the Aromatherapy anxiety relief benefits that comes from these pint size bottles of magic.

What Is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy’s history dates back to over 3500 years BC and was than known as “Aromatics” Which means having a pleasant and distinctive smell. Aromatherapy was used then for religious purposes and medicines.

The Term Aromatherapy came about by a French perfumist and chemist named Rene’-Maurice Gattefosse’, who studied chemical engineering at the university of Lyon. He published the book on the healing powers of the oils called “AROMATHERPY” in 1937. After an incident rang out in his lab one day, he burnt his hand pretty bad and rushed to the nearest tub of liquid substances which so happen to be the essential oil lavender.

Aromatherapy Is Known For

Having both physical and psychological benefits that works by stimulating a smell through the nose that sends signals through the nervous system to a part of the brain known as the limbic system. The limbic systems controls your emotions.

The health benefits that come from aromatherapy essential oils are endless. They are not just known to target and soothe anxiety but are also used to heal such things as skin related issues, pain management, insomnia, respiratory disorders, cardiovascular, gut and digestive issues, cold and flu symptoms and is also used in some cases to help boost immune systems.

Even though there is no scientific proof that supports that aromatherapy essential oil usage can actually cure any illness. There has been studies proven it to affect mental and emotional health, making aromatherapy one of the largest influencer in the holistic healing world.

Within the very long list of the everyday essential oils I have gone through ALL of them to find the ones that have worked best at calming my anxiety at its peak which are..

Not only do these particular oils work wonders for my anxiety they also smell HEAVENLY. These certain oils have very similar benefits, they are all used as stress relievers and mood enhancers. Which is great for us suffering the anxiety attacks that can get us down in the dumps more than we will agree to admit. They are also known to help us sleep better, for the ones that fight through insomnia at night because our minds just cannot seem to ever shut off. They also help with irritability by using their calming scents.

Ways To Use Essential Oils

There are different ways that you can use essential oils one can be placing them in a spritz bottle, This will allow you to spray a light mist of sleepy oil over your bedding or pillows right before hitting the hay which will act as a sleep aid. If your insomnia is something that can use some TLC this is a great method to try.

You may also place a few drops in the bath water while soaking. Now this method I use a lot this is such a great way to kick back and relax after a long day. Not only does it allow the body and muscles to unwind, the relaxing oils mixed with the water on the skin, I mean let me tell you about baby soft skin!

Essential oils are also great in diffusers or vaporizers, this method allows the oils to form into a midst that fills the air and leaves a pleasant aroma throughout the home. So coming in after a stressful day gets a little easier after you walk into the calming scents.

You can also place these oils in roller ball bottles, this allows you to place the oils on your pulse points which include the (neck, chest, inner elbow, wrist, bend of the knee and ankles). This is a great method that allows you to enjoy the benefits of the oils on the go. So while sitting in the office or traveling in the car, you will get a whiff every so often that keeps you in a calm state of mind no matter where you are.

And last but not the least Jewelry, there are certain beaded bracelets and necklaces that hold these special oils for you. This also allows you to also carry the essential oils scents around while on the go. They make these gorgeous pieces of jewelry for men, women and children so the whole family can find their zen in fashion!

Aromatherapy essential oils have several advantages to them but when it comes to anxiety it targets and hits in the best smelling way possible. Try them out, heck try them ALL!
